Since 2022, all pandamart stores have switched to eco-friendly shopping bags, with a compostable bioplastic bag, water-soluble #INVISIBLEBAG, and recyclable paper bag. Selected stores also have recycling collection bins for used foodpanda recyclable paper bag, and pandamart eco-friendly & compostable shopping bags, to be sent to a local composting facility, customers can now participate in waste reduction.
What is pandamart eco-friendly & compostable shopping bag?
Our bags are made of PBAT and PLA. These have passed international standard tests and certifications. They are both industrial, home compostable, and biodegradable. It does not contain conventional plastics like PP, PE, PS, and PVC.
After consumed by microorganisms and composted, these bags will convert into carbon dioxide, water, and biomass. The remaining compost is non-toxic, can be mixed with soil for agricultural use.
What is #INVISIBLEBAG?
These bags are water-soluble, compostable, biodegradable. They are proven to be non-toxic, has no negative effects for plant growth and leaves no harmful residue. And it doesn't contain PP, PE, PS, and PVC conventional plastic, it will not form microplastic.

Where will the collected bags be sent?
All recycled bags will be sent to the non-profit organization Eco Community Promotion Association Limited (ECPAL) in Hong Kong for composting. It will undergo 6-12 months of composting under appropriate management with garden waste and eventually be used for agricultural purposes.
Are pandamart eco-friendly, compostable PLA plastic bags certified?
It is certified compostable and fulfills US Standard ASTM D6400 and European Standard EN13432 standards. 90% or more of the bag material will be converted to carbon dioxide (CO2) by microorganisms within 180 days in ideal composting conditions, while no harmful residues are left behind and the remaining share will turn into water and biomass.
In addition, it is also certified as home compostable according to TUV Austria OK compost HOME standards. And proven to have no PP, PE, PS, PVC conventional plastic according to FTIR analysis.
What is #INVISIBLEBAG made of?
Ingredients: Polyvinyl Alcohol (PVOH), starch, glycerin, and water
Polyvinyl Alcohol (PVOH), is a type of water-soluble and biodegradable synthetic polymer. It was early invented in the 1920s by German scientists and has been widely used in medical, embroidery, garment, and personal applications such as pills, laundry, and detergent capsules.
Will #INVISIBLEBAG formulate microplastic after dissolving?
No. PVOH is one of a few water-soluble and biodegradable synthetic polymers, which is able to be biodegraded by microorganisms, breaking down into carbon dioxide and water with no trace of microplastics.
While conventional plastics like PP, PE, PS, and PVC take decades for biodegrade and will fragment into microplastics, it will not formulate microplastic throughout the dissolving and composting processes, thus breaking down into carbon dioxide and water afterward. And #INVISIBLEBAG has completed the FTIR analysis, proven that #INVISIBLEBAG does not contain PP, PE, PS, PVC plastic, and non-toxic proven by EEQ.
