Ingredients

Marinade:

  • 120ml of soy sauce
  • 115g of honey
  • 80g of ketchup
  • 75g of brown sugar
  • 60ml of Chinese wine
  • 2 tbsp of Hoisin sauce
  • ½ tbsp of Chinese five-spice powder
  • 2.25kg of baby back ribs

Glaze:

  • 85ml of honey
  • ¼ tsp of garlic powder
  • 1 tsp of soy sauce
  • 1 tsp of Hoisin sauce

  • 1 large zipper freezer bag
  • Slow cooker
  • 1 pastry brush

Directions

  • In a bowl, add soy sauce, honey, ketchup, brown sugar, Chinese wine, Hoisin sauce, and Chinese five-spice powder. Mix until well combined.
  • Place the ribs in a large zipper freezer bag, and pour in the marinade.
  • Seal the bag completely, turning it a few times to thoroughly coat the ribs.
  • Set it in the fridge for 4 hours to let it marinate.
  • Remove the ribs from the bag and drain.
  • In a slow cooker, add the marinade to the crock along with the ribs. Set to the lowest temperature and let it cook for 6 hours.
  • Meanwhile, add honey, garlic powder, soy sauce, and Hoisin sauce in another bowl. Mix until combined.
  • After 6 hours, transfer the ribs out to a rack. Glaze the ribs with the mixture using the pastry brush, coating it completely.
  • Transfer the glazed ribs into the broiler and let it broil until the glaze begins to bubble.
  • Remove from the broiler. Transfer the ribs to a plate and serve!
