Ingredients

  • 210g of Jasmine rice
  • 15ml of oil
  • 3g of salt
  • 4l of water
  • 500g of pork
  • 500g of pork spare ribs
  • 6 century eggs
  • 36g of chicken bouillon powder
  • Salt to taste

Congee Recipe

Directions

  • Wash and drain the rice, then mix it with the oil and 3g of salt. Set it aside and let it sit for a minimum of 1 hour.
  • Meanwhile, boil the water in a large pot and add pork and pork spare ribs. Boil this pork broth twice.
  • Next, remove the spare ribs to cool.
  • Then, add the rice, one century egg, chicken bouillon powder, and salt to taste.
  • Let it simmer for around 30 minutes or until it reaches the desired consistency.
  • Meanwhile, slice the spare ribs into bite-size pieces and cut the century eggs into quarters.
  • Increase the heat, add the spare ribs and century eggs, and let it simmer for fifteen minutes.

Personalise this Congee Recipe

Jasmine rice is the usual choice of rice for congee. However, you can always opt for other rice grains, such as brown or black rice. But remember that different types of rice grains will have different cooking times. Feel free to replace the pork with chicken too! We guarantee it’ll be as delicious.
